As I went to sleep after a long day, remembering the Fire Safety measures and use of green and non-green bins in daily life, introduced by software professionals; I heard a loud bashing sound. “That’s fire” – I shouted
As I opened the door of my flat, I heard a lady on the lower floor, crying “Uncle please help me“. I saw a man running behind her, he was her husband. People gathered and the lady was rescued. Then she cried “My son is inside with the maid, please save him”. A 2-year old boy with a maid came out. Immediately, the lady was sent to a friend’s house with the baby and the maid. It was then I saw her – She was bashed and blood was coming out of her nose and mouth. I was horrified to see that.
When asked, her husband told that she is working in a school, leaving her kid on the teenage maid , for the whole day, which he doesn’t like; While the lady told that her husband is a software professional and alcoholic. He is not able to control himself after drinking. He beat her almost on a daily basis and now she is not able to tolerate him anymore. He should be send to a Rehab centre. The most shocking thing was – Their’s was a love marriage, just 4 years ago.
Next morning, the man was taken by police, probably to a Rehab centre and the lady’s parent came to stay with her.
I really got disturbed by the incident. I never thought that such things happen in the so-called well-educated and civilized society. The man was brilliant at his office and so was the lady at her school, they have a loving son and a maid to help them, they loved each other and then married. Then how come such incident took place??
I came out with two things -
1. Alcohol, in any form , in any case, is not good for us. I meet several people who tell me the benefits of alcohol, “if you consume little, it helps your heart, it will keep you far away from cold, ” etc. or they just say “Thoda peene se kuch nahi hota” but I’m never convinced. I don’t understand why people go for alcohol?? It has got very bad taste and a very bad smell. Any lady cannot say that when my man talks to me after drinking alcohol, I like the smell coming out of his mouth. And if you are not able to control yourself after drinking, then its a serious crime. I’ve never heard anyone saying that his/her life or family life has improved because of drinking alcohol.
2. Secondly, for a woman, her family should come first – that’s important. Even if you are prime minister of the country, your first responsibility is your kid, your husband and your/his parents. Its sad but true that career becomes secondary for a woman when she enters family life. It’s equally important to be a doting mom, a loving wife and a caring daughter/daughter-in-law. I don’t mean that girls should not excel in academics and should not go for a job of their choice, what I want to convey is – family needs you much more than anyone; Understand your importance and don’t let anyone hurt you in the midnight.

15 years back, Hyderabad was not anyone’s favourite destination. Its not going to be the one, in today’s scenario.
As much as I can recall, it was Mr. Chandra Babu Naidu who did a lot in order to bring Hyderabad on World’s map. The IT industry and the Pharma biggies along with the reputed national institutes such as IICT, CCMB,UoH,NalsarPro etc all were not very well-known before Naidu’s term as a CM. He did a lot for urban development. Then came (late) Mr. Y.S.R. who won the heart of even the rural people and continued working for Hyderabad’s progress.
But, destiny was not happy with the happiness of Hyderabad and he took away our dear CM, (late) Mr. Y.S.R. from us, leading to a political unrest in AP. Taking advantage of this situation, Mr. KCR and his party(TRS)/supporters started demanding a separate Telangana State. – Why ?? because they speak Telugu !!! What a funny reason and even more surprising is the participation of Osmania University students. Government is spending so much for a prestigious university so that its students can take Hyderabad’s peace, pride and prosperity in their hands and can play with them ???????
So, can Mr. KCR assure that all telugu speaking people will live inside Telangana OR those living outside Telangana should be and must be send to Telangana ?? Are people speaking other languages not allowed to stay/work/flourish in Telangana ??
If no, then Telangana has to go out of the boundaries of INDIA. Because any Indian can do a job/move from one place to another/study in any state of INDIA as per the rights of a citizen.
If yes, then What is the need of a separate state ?? Is anyone prohibited in today’s AP to speak telugu? I don’t think so. Are there any communal problems which proposed Telangana people are facing, and which would be solved only by formation of a separate state ??? Not at all. Then why do we need a Telangana ????
Dear supporters of separate state Telangana - Please do not make your personal interests bigger than the country. INDIA, AP and of course our Hyderabad have already started losing peace and prosperity. Please try to understand that……..
- Calling for Bandh is the worst thing, hitting normal life, closing schools and colleges, shops etc affecting their business and affecting the growth of our HUGE IT industry as well as Pharma industry, which contribute a lot to the nation’s progress.
- Foreign investors are not interested in Hyderabad anymore due to the havoc created by Telangana movement and USA has clearly warned his citizens not to visit Hyderabad in present circumstances. Check it out
- This will also give an opportunity to the anti-social elements to flourish and act fast amidst the political unrest. and mind everyone – these people will not care whether you are a telugu speaking from Telangana OR from AP OR from any part of India speaking any language…..
I don’t think whatever is going on, is in favour of, even the citizens of proposed Telangana. They might gain a state but they will lose a lot – their brothers and sisters – their peace, prosperity and pride. Such kind of division based on a language speaking community is baseless. If Telangana happens, it will lead to several other telanganas in INDIA which will benefit only the Anti-Indians. So please please do not promote and support it !! ———- A humble request by an INDIAN.

This Diwali I missed my home – India , very much.
Being in Brisbane there was no question of all those crackers (Anaars, spirals,Torches, Rockets and not to mention – the noisy ones – I don’t like them). Thank God it was a saturday !!!! We planned for a get together, everybody cooked traditional dishes – Pooran poli, besan ladoo and Rajma - rice from marathi friend; rawa ladoo, sambhar, lemon rice and vada from andhra friend and Matar-paneer, Nariyal ladoo, vegetable pulao and boondi raita were my creation. I cleaned my house in the morning (just I do daily) with vacuum cleaner (no water washing needed due to carpets), lighten some diyas in my balcony (as the smoke alarm is very active and spills the beans to everyone), did pooja of Lakshmi-Ganeshji and went to my friend’s house.
My friend who invited us for the get together, decorated her house with hand-made (wheat flour) diyas keeping them over banana leaves. We got some small,star-shaped sparkling torches (phooljhadi) for kids. We all were talking about how we celebrate Diwali in India and how this Diwali is being celebrated. We enjoyed dinner and came back home.

Om Shanti Om @ SBS1, Oz
I switched on my t.v. for late night news and to my utter surprize, SBS1 (Australian t.v. channel) was telecasting Om Shanti Om – yes you read right – featuring SRK and Deepika Padukone. The movie was in Hindi with english subtitles. I was filled with nostalgia.. I watched the whole movie and it was without any commercial. I thanked SBS for this great job.

multicultural fest@ romastreet parklands
Next day (Sunday) we went to Roma street parklands for the multicultural festival – organised by Queensland government. There were shops from several countries – Food stalls, mehandi and tattoo stalls, face painting, clothes and the most important – several performances from various countries. And guess what ?? The Bollywood dhamaka presented by Aarti Saha and her team got maximum number of audiences. They did a Jai ho and asked everybody to join and do their bit. It was an awesome experience to see non-indians dancing to the tunes of Bollywood !!
Once again I will say that Australia truly represents a multicultural society and has gained respect in my eyes. Thanks to my dear friends in Brisbane who made my Diwali memorable.

Happy 40th Anniversary Sesame Street !!

Chamki
Gali gali sim sim was a serendipity to me. Once I was crawling through the tv channels at 2:00 pm in order to get a company for lunch at home (food without a company is a curse for me), I saw this programme on POGO channel. I never liked cartoons and animations. But this programme was something different and it was this difference which made me to stick to it. It is aimed at the kids, ready for formal pre school education. But the presentation is so beautiful that I sometimes watch it for the whole 30 minutes. The main characters were CHAMKI – a 5 year old girl, a lion, googly, and few more; now i cannot recall the names. There was an Akshar Kumar who taught one alphabet a day. There were intresting ways of learning shapes, colours, name of fruits and vegetables. And one child from any part of the world was introduced telling about his place of living, where his father/any other member of family works and how they work. It was so fun to watch those intresting explainations from young children.
The song of gali gali sim sim was :
Kuch to mast baat hai is jagah ki,
gali gali me baat hai is jagah ki,
yaha hai khalbali har cheez manchali,
ticket ho ya na ho, ye gari chal pari….. gali gali sim sim, gali gali sim sim….
Googly wanted to go to space, Chamki being the darling of the show and the Lion ate vegetables. I, then told many people who were having kids, about Gali Gali Sim Sim. And to my surprize none of them had seen the programme before. Now , they are loving it !!
I had no idea that gali gali sim sim was the indianized version of Sesame street untill i went to sea world ,Goldcoast, Australia; and saw a satge performance of the sesame street characters. The logo on their stage was same as that of the gali gali sim sim. Then I realized the similarity.
These days I’m not watching it but surely will do that with my kid when I’ll go back home. Thanks to the person, the team, behind the idea of spreading the Sesame workshop all over the world. Thanks to Sesame Workshop international producer Nadine Zylstra. With one out of six children in the world living in India, the potential for positive change is breathtaking. Sesame Workshop hopes many children will benefit from the message Chamki gives, “Stay in school, study, work hard; there isn’t anything you can’t do.”
Once again MANY MANY HAPPY RETURNS OF THE DAY SESAME STREET !!

Sea world is a theme park based on marine life and is situated at Sea World Drive, 3 km north of Surfers Paradise on Queensland’s Gold Coast.
How to get there?? Well, we took the Gold Coast train at 8:00 am from the roma street station and reached to Helensvale station in an hour. From there we got the bus for sea world and it took 25 minutes to reach there.

Monorail @Sea world
At the entrance we met Sesame street ( Gali Gali Sim Sim /pogo channel) characters, posing with kids. Kids were too happy to meet their favourite characters (Elmo looked the brightest of all). Near the entrance were the monorail station and the ropeway halt. For having a picturesque view of sea world, one must try the monorail and the ropeway. the best part is – these are free of cost. For a wider and bird eye view of the area, helicopter rides are there with a fee of 55 AUD /person /10 min approx.
After getting an idea of the place, we headed to the dolphin cove, where Beautiful dolphins were dancing to the tunes of human being. I knew that dolphins have got stong smelling- power and are capable of understanding human actions but knowing something and watching it are different aspects. A show was running demonstrating how we can live in harmony with other creatures of this planet. A trained staff was having a ride over a dolphin and it was too fast. Then those dolphins responded to palm movements, head movement of humans and to the rhythms. It’s magical for me to see the closeness of man and other animals. At least I can never try that.
There were several rides – jet rescue, cork screw – all horrifying for me. Screams of people who were riding scared me. One BERMUDA TRIANGLE RIDE was there which was not so speedy so I did not miss the chance. It showed the possible happenings which occurred to the lost planes and ships and was a good try.
The Sesame Street Beach was a heaven for kids. It had train and helicopter rides, merry-go-round, bird bouncer, and a splash zone. A show featuring all sesame street characters was there and not only kids but everyone danced to their tunes.
Wait wait….in the animal section there were Polar Bears, sharks, sting rays, sea urchins, star fishes; and you could hand feed some of them. I wanted to spend some more time watching the beauty of sea world inhabitants but …..there’s always a time limit for everything (???????)
There were plenty of food stalls, food from outside is not allowed unless you have special dietary requirement.
It was a beautiful day in a beautiful place. I’m planning to go once more…..Amen !

I was checking my emails and got this wonderful mail send by one of my friends. Its about a prof, telling the real essence of life, the gist of life, to his students. I’m putting it as such -
When things in your life seem, almost too much to handle,
When 24 Hours in a day is not enough,
Remember the mayonnaise jar and 2 cups of coffee.
A professor stood before his philosophy class
and had some items in front of him.
When the class began, wordlessly,
He picked up a very large and empty mayonnaise jar
And proceeded to fill it with golf balls.
He then asked the students, if the jar was full.
They agreed that it was.
The professor then picked up a box of pebbles and poured
them into the jar. He shook the jar lightly.
The pebbles rolled into the open Areas between the golf balls.
He then asked the students again if the jar was full. They agreed it was.
The professor next picked up a box of sand and poured it into the jar.
Of course, the sand filled up everything else.
He asked once more if the jar was full. The students responded with a unanimous ‘yes.’
The professor then produced two cups of coffee from under the table and poured the entire contents into the jar, effectively
filling the empty space between the sand. The students laughed.
‘Now,’ said the professor, as the laughter subsided,
‘I want you to recognize that this jar represents your life.
The golf balls are the important things – family,
children, health, Friends, and Favorite passions –
Things that if everything else was lost and only they remained, Your life would still be full.
The pebbles are the other things that matter like your job, house, and car.
The sand is everything else –The small stuff.
‘If you put the sand into the jar first,’ He continued,
there is no room for the pebbles or the golf balls.
The same goes for life.
If you spend all your time and energy on the small stuff,
You will never have room for the things that are important to you.
So…
Pay attention to the things that are critical to your happiness.
Play With your children.
Take time to get medical checkups.
Take your partner out to dinner.
There will always be time to clean the house and fix the disposal.
‘Take care of the golf balls first –
The things that really matter.
Set your priorities. The rest is just sand.’
One of the students raised her hand and inquired what the coffee represented.
The professor smiled.
‘I’m glad you asked’.
It just goes to show you that no matter how full your life may seem,
there’s always room for a couple of cups of coffee with a friend.’
Please share this with other “Golf Balls”
I just did……
What a beautiful story. Even I had few teachers in my college/school, who used to deliver lectures on life etc. and some of them were really touching.
Hope you enjoyed the lesson.

Just now I got the news that Julia Roberts has gone to Delhi for the shooting of her new flick!! (Source : timesofindia news)
I got excited and my immediate response was, “Oh my God, what the hell we are doing here in BNE”, as if, if I were in India , I were going straightaway to meet her…
But the heart doesn’t always synchronizes with the mind and so is mine…..
I admire her a lot, I’ve seen Erin Brocovich , Pretty Woman and Notting Hill and I just love her acting. Her mere presence on screen fills me with hope, optimism and I find myself smiling with affection and praise. Not to mention her beauty…
God!! make her India trip memorable, fabulous, successful. Amen !!

According to Mythology, God created man on 6th day and was happy to see his best creation.
The early man was just like animals, his needs were food and shelter from bad weather and other harmful animals, so he lived in caves. Gradually he invented fire, started cooking. When he learned about agriculture, he started building a house for shelter and thus civilization was introduced….
Modern man invented technology, he invented electricity and then came the Iron age – Industries were set up in order to meet demands of man and nowadays everything in a home comes from outside. Man was not satisfied with his EARTHY Exploration so he went to SEE the moon. Man wanted to know about each and every thing happening around the world, In order to fulfill his wishes he didn’t spare the SPACE; he sent satellites and created space-stations.
I don’t know about the origin of different races and countries; probably it happened due to migration of some groups and then their segregation from each other. Man divided the EARTH into several continents, countries with well defined borders and security forces. He was not satisfied with land security so he divided water and air also and now has air force, armed forces and naval forces(wherever applicable).
He learned reading, writing and expressing himself in different languages…He worked hard and earned luxary…He was living the happiest life and enjoying his self proclaimed position of controller in the Ecosystem.
This was the happier side of the story…..
The sad part is that, because of his immortal and unlimited wishes, the mother EARTH has suffered, more than a lot. The beautiful system of ozone layer, to protect the earth from harmful rays, coming from sun, is undergoing depletion. The reason is the dramatic increase in the concentration of hydroxyl, nitric oxide radicals and the atomic chlorine and bromine – these were always present in the nature but MAN has terribly increased their concentration.
The global warming is on an all time high – thanks to the industrialization, leading to more and more emission of greenhouse gases which tend to absorb the sun’s radiation and keeping our planet warm. These gases were there in the past but due to the “Happy Man’s Life” their concentration has elevated like anything – the consequences – Polar Ice caps will melt, increasing the level of sea. There will be more hurricanes, heat waves, droughts, and diseases.
These are the major outcomes of The Man’s Evolution.
“So what, The happy Man will shift to the mountains or will move to another suitable place in space”. There will be a struggle for existence (read it : WAR), leading to the survival of the fittest (the mightiest).
I wonder how GOD should be feeling about his 6th day creation…….
He must be feeling apologetic to his all other creations, He must be CRYING over his mistake and saying to himself ” WHY I CREATED THE MAN ?? WHY I CREATED THE MAN??”
